Jose Roberto Paz, Jr.

Jose Roberto Paz, Jr. (Robert) was born April 3, 1945, in Del Rio, Texas to Jose Roberto and Josefa Cruz Paz. He passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by his loving family. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Jose Roberto and Josefa Cruz Paz, sister Alicia Paz Gonzalez, brother Lupe Paz, and son Brian Abraham Paz. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years Rebecca "Becky," his sons Robert Michael "Robbie" and Joseph Tagle "J.T," Brother: Alfredo Paz; Grandchildren: Jimmy Martin, Chris Martin (Kendra) and Rebecca "Becca" Paz; Great-grandchildren: Lilly Ann, Sophia, Ryker, Penelope, and Oliver. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Robert graduated from San Felipe High School in Del Rio, Texas and attended Angelo State University where he received his bachelor's degree; and Sul Ross State University where he received his master's degree. Robert served his country in the United States Army as a member of the Army Security Agency while stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida. He and the love of his life, Becky, were united in holy matrimony in 1967 at Mary Queen of the Universe Church in Comstock, Texas. Robert served St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Pecos, TX in many capacities. He was also an educator for many decades as a math and science teacher and athletic coach to many students who loved and respected him at Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD. During this time Robbie and J.T. cherished having their father as a coach and teacher. Robert was a devoted and supportive father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a nurturing uncle, and a loving brother-in-law. Robert was a fan of all sports. He could be found cheering for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and next to his beloved wife; the New York Yankees (although he was secretly a fan of the LA Dodgers). Robert's kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024, 5:00pm-9:00pm at Amistad Funeral Home, 114 Fletcher Dr., Del Rio, Texas. Holy Rosary 7:00pm. Funeral liturgy will be held Monday, November 25, 2024, 10:00am, at Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church in Comstock, Texas with Deacon Robert Sanchez officiating. Burial to follow at Comstock Cemetery.
